On the way home from work I heard the
sound of a helicopter flying low over the car. Sweating nervously I
finally pulled off I-24 East into a rather shifty neck of the woods. It
was, needless to say, not a helicopter but a very flat and flapping back
tyre. A charming young man stopped - he happened to work at Acura - and
helped me put on the skinny spare tyre. His name is Dave and he works at
Acura in Brentwood. Bless the little dear. |
When I got home I heard
this hisssssssss and found a big hole in the side of the front tyre. |
Loot Angels |
Bewildered, I called my friends Lynne
and MaryEllen who again calmed me down and promised to spot me the loot
till payday. |
I creepy-crawly'd all the way to Lowes
Hardware and bought Fix-a-Flat. The Fix-a-Flat had a defective thingey and
the front tire squished down like a disappointed child. A helpful Lowe's
employee fetched another bottle and inflated the tyre. |
Fix-A-Flat Angel |
PepBoys Angel |
I hung onto the steering wheel with
eyes saucer-big and finally arrived at PepBoys in Rivergate. It was 8:30
pm - they close at nine. The attendant refused point blank to have the
work done until the next day, declaring that they were too busy.
It was then that the manager stepped in. "It will be done",
he declared with authority. It was done. His name is Patrick and I
owe him one. I am grateful and intend to let his company know. He didn't
have to do it. |
There is another nail firmly embedded in another tyre -
it should hold till payday... |
TAKE ME HOME
