The Peg-leg Skydiver

One of the television shoots I did involved traveling to the smallest country in the world. Lesotho (full of diamonds)  is located within the borders of South Africa (also full of diamonds). Skydivers would flock there every year for what they call a 'boogie'. Of all the rather insane people who gathered for the body-hurling event, one chap remains in uppermost part of my memory. He had two wooden legs.

He exchanged his prosthesis for peg-legs and jumped but once per year or so I was informed. Later that weekend I understood why..

The screaming ostrich

A world of thanks

His descent was graceful as he floated down towards earth.

But, when he landed, he literally 'pegged' right into the ground.

Obviously, the poor chap suffered immensely after such a landing.

He would spend the rest of the year recovering from the resultant compression.

I wish for good people on this planet to have such incredible friends such as I have.

There can be no beginning and no end to all I could tell you about what they have meant to me over the past five years.

I endeavor to understand and not condemn people who do peculiar things - I might be described as mite peculiar myself..
